A BIG Welcome

To You

Hello!

Hello!

I’m Hannah, a mum of (now!) two bigger kids and certified baby sleep coach living in lutruwita/ Tasmania.

I started Kin Postpartum because I’ve been the mum whose baby doesn't sleep, with my firstborn waking pretty much hourly for over a year (Yep, hourly).

Nearly every single night.

Nearly every single night.

I knew there was a reason

my baby wasn't sleeping

I knew there was a reason my baby wasn't sleeping

About to return to work and not sure how I was going to cope, I booked a consult with a sleep consultant who I knew was an advocate for sleep training but had beautiful words like ‘gentle’, ‘soothing’, and ‘respectful of co-sleeping’ on her website and socials.

Turns out being able to pick one of three generic settling methods and handed a chart with how long until I could pick up my baby

was not gentle or responsive.

It was awful.

INTRODUCTION

Kin exists

because I've been where you are.

It turns out you don't have to sleep train if you don't want to (been there!), and you don't have to just accept really tricky sleep.

There's an entire middle ground which I found when I
refused to believe that crying over the cot was normal, and now here we are helping hundreds of families sleep without losing their minds (or their connection 😉).

There's an entire middle ground which I found when I
refused to believe that crying over the cot was normal, and now here we are helping hundreds of families to sleep without losing their minds (or their connection 😉).

I threw ‘conventional wisdom’ out the window and went to work on the research.

I clocked countless hours studying attachment, brain development, lactation, feeding support, sleep science and infant development, which meant I didn't just know how to help - I finally understood WHY.

I now understand temperament and how this translates to the need for proximity. I learnt and now have a special interest in sleep barriers (red flags!), after going on to uncover the last little piece as to why my baby was having trouble sleeping.

And let me tell you, it wasn't because I was still feeding to sleep or not trying hard enough to master drowsy but awake.

My approach Is Honest

My approach Is Honest

Using principles based on developmental psychology, attachment theory and neuroscience, I work with the family unit to get to the root of sleep challenges without the use of any separation-based behaviour modification techniques, because here’s the truth:

You can’t train out a baby’s biological needs.

If you’re here it’s because you want to find out what else could be getting in the way of your baby sleeping their best right now without any of the pseudo self settling science that sits underneath most sleep support. Maybe you also feel that ancestral intuition of yours questioning the status quo that babies aren't born knowing how to sleep properly, and you trust they don't need you to teach them, they just need you.

There's no toughening you up to better ignore the cries here, but conversely there's also no guarantees we can get your baby to sleep through the night.

Instead, I work with you to uncover and remove the underlying barriers that are impacting your baby's sleep and get them to their biological best, the way their brains are designed to.

No timed check ins or drowsy but awake – just a big dose of honest (and evidence based!) support to help you relax and actually enjoy being a parent. Because isn't that the goal??

When I had my second baby you can bet I did things differently, and can honestly say I did not ever truly feel sleep deprived even with a toddler in tow.

And I would love to share how you can, too:

Start with my free guides on better sleep, wake windows, moving away from bedsharing or contact napping, and my fav resources on why I think sleep training isn't all that

Come over and join the Kin Community where we can do some basic troubleshooting together while you access the huge library of resources, mini poddy eps and masterclasses

Jump over to my Instagram where I share polls, run regular Q&A’s and talk openly about parenting and normalising infant sleep

Or work with me 1:1 and let's get you bloody sorted!

Together let's shake up sleep training culture and get you some rest...

You deserve it.
